The Long Goodbye

Riz Ahmed – musician, storyteller, actor and activist – brings a special one-off streamed performance to mif.co.uk.

The Long Goodbye, Ahmed’s electrifying live music show, was due to premiere in Manchester back in March. Three days before the first performance, the UK went into lockdown – and the show, commissioned by MIF and Brooklyn Academy of Music, was postponed until 2021 (dates TBA). Ahmed reacted to lockdown by creating this one-off online performance. Developed especially for the digital realm and presented in immersive sound, it’s a companion piece to the live show, which MIF plan to present in 2021.

Mesmer worked with Manchester International Festival to co-ordinate and stream the limited-time screening of the performance, integrating with Vimeo’s live streaming capabilities and providing backup solutions for users who couldn’t access the stream directly.
