Secret Cinema: Secret Sofa

Dark forces and demogorgons aside, current times feel a bit too much like a dystopian film even for our liking. Secret Sofa to the rescue!

Whilst the true heroes fight for us on the frontline, there are better ways to pass your time indoors than organising your spice rack. During lockdown 2020, Secret Cinema moved their immersive film experiences online with Secret Sofa.

Each week, viewers would gather at home (and in costume) to watch a film, followed by an interactive Zoom party featuring live remote performers, contests, dance parties and more. The project brightened up people’s Friday nights for ten weeks, with thousands of attendees.

We worked with Secret Cinema to produce new content each week, or to repurpose existing content if the film happened to be one we’d produced before. Imagery was created for as disparate films as Groundhog Day, Moulin Rouge, Dead Poet’s Society and Casino Royale.

Secret Sofa won ‘Best Online Film Club’ at the TimeOut TimeIn awards 2020.
