Disneyland Paris: Mickey & The Magician
Go back in time to Paris at the turn of the 19th century… and enter a great Magician’s atelier, where the assistant is no other than a certain Mickey Mouse!
Night has fallen. Tinker Bell has spread a little stardust. When he is given the task of cleaning up the atelier before sunrise, the young apprentice gets distracted! Nothing turns out as expected. Mickey finds himself accidentally transported to the most magical Disney film worlds. He becomes the hero in this incredible show where illusion is key and the audience find themselves plunged into a world of magic and delight.
Mickey and the Magician is a live stage show at Disneyland Paris, running up to five times a day at the park. As Mickey meets various Disney characters, the atelier set changes with the help of video projection, mapping, and a backdrop LED.
Mesmer consulted and created all content for the project, working for Walt Disney Imagineering in collaboration with the Disneyland Paris team over the course of a year. To fit with the look and feel of the older movies referenced in the show, much of the footage is based on hand-drawn and digitally illustrated elements and was created over four months by a team of six animators in the Mesmer studio.
We then worked with the technical teams on site to install and program the system, using custom Hippotizer servers.
The show won the IAAPA Brass Ring Award for ‘Best Theatrical Production’ in 2016
