Bells for Peace

For the opening event of Manchester International Festival 2019, Yoko Ono invited the people of Manchester to gather together in Cathedral Gardens and send a message of peace to the world.

Thousands of diverse voices and a people’s orchestra of bells from home and abroad rang and sang out for peace – welcoming the world to Manchester. People across Greater Manchester designed and created their own unique handcrafted ceramic bells at a series of special workshops.

“A crowd of thousands packed into the space next to Urbis to stand in solidarity with the messages of peace and love played on a big screen” – Manchester Evening News

We worked with MIF to design the timeline of Bells For Peace, the messages to be communicated and the layout of the site, and worked with local film company Soup Co to write and produce the short films used in the event. We then supplied crew and playback equipment to run all screen content and link to OB, where the entire event was packaged for live streaming and viewed online around the world.
