‘Louis Vuitton / Marc Jacobs’ Exhibition
Delving into the brand’s rich history and celebrating its present glories, the ’Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs’ exhibition at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs presents the parallel stories of the brand’s two personalities, and underlines their individual contributions to fashion.
Mesmer worked with longtime collaborators Gainsbury & Whiting to realise this huge exhibition. The range of installations featured archive material from LV’s shows, publicity and marketing, animated backdrops telling the story of Louis Vuitton’s early years as well as a montage of Marc Jacobs’ influences shown across four cabinets of lightboxes and screens.
The exhibition concluded with a ‘peepshow’ installation designed by Mesmer, showing 30 historic catwalk shows projected and overlaid across 20 semitransparent panels, viewed through a series of peepholes.
