Mesmer designed the breakthrough projection system for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 2005 musical – the entire set (by Bill Dudley) was a 270-degree tracking projection surface, and all the backdrops 3d animations, in a development of our work at the National Theatre with The Coast of Utopia.

At the time of this show, available media servers weren’t really up to the task, so we supervised the construction of a custom software program which ran only this show, based on comtemporary computer games technology – the Mesmerist. The 12 video racks provided a full backed up solution to the 9-projector rig, and pulled information from the stage automation computers to keep the video lined up with the moving curved walls.

The show transferred to Broadway the following year.
