Part of the Guggenheim Museum’s works & process series. A unique collaboration inspired by Kandisnky’s journey to abstraction and to coincide with the museum’s mayor Kandisky retrospective. It features the work of lighting and set designer Marcus Doshi and choreography by Karole Armitage under the direction of pianist Sarah Rothenberg. Performed by the Bretano String Quartett and the soprano Susan Naruki.
The lighting design by Marcus Doshi and the projection design of Sven Ortel were completely successful. They enhanced the theatrical experience in ways that proved the theories of Kandinsky, Schoenberg and others of the represented composers, never more so than in the Scriabin performance.
