THe New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-Under-Lyme is one of the few purpose built theatres in the round and therefore poses particular challenges for staging and design. James Dacres second production with Dick Straker utilised the floor as a projection surface for Eugene O’Neil’s classic American tragedy creating the symbolic elements of play as emerging textures from beneath the stage.

Tasteful video design by Dick Straker coupled with Lis Evans' thoughtful staging and Daniella Beattie's imaginative lighting conjure up the exacting way of life on the Cabots' farm.
